Virtual Name Server (DNS) We offer you the ability to have your own Virtual Name Server (e.g. ns1.your-domain.name.net and ns2.your-domain.name.net). A Virtual Name Server is not an actual Name Server, rather it is an alias which refers to our primary and secondary Name Servers. Once your Virtual Name Server is setup, you can register domain names with your Virtual Name Server information. Thus when your customers perform a domain name lookup (via whois or other methods), they will see your Name Server information (e.g. ns1.yournameserver.net and ns2.yournameserver.net) not ours. Once your Virtual Name Server is configured we will use that information when registering additional domain names for new or existing domains with InterNIC (if applicable). In order to change the DNS information for the domain names you have registered prior to receiving a Virtual Name Server, you will need to manually modify the information directly with InterNIC or the applicable domain name registry. Before modifying existing domains with InterNIC you may need to submit the HOST REGISTRATION TEMPLATE to InterNIC directly for each Name Server you wish to register. Once the forms are processed by InterNIC you will be able to modify existing domains to refer to your registered Name Server. Please Note: Since a Virtual Name Server is not an actual Name Server, rather it is an alias, you will still need to make DNS changes and add subhosts through us and pay the applicable monthly DNS fees. Qualifying for a Virtual Name Server The Virtual Name Server product is only available to qualified Customers. If you are a customer, you can order a Virtual Name Server if: you are in good standing, including current billing. you have a registered domain name. Price for Virtual Name Server The Virtual Name Server is made available for a one-time $150.00 fee. This fee is for the use of two (2) dedicated static IP addresses on our DNS servers |
